Trashit wins the Pakistan round of SheLovesTech

The breaking news of 19 August 2017 :

“Eighty (80) initial start-ups, Ten (10) making to the finals, and the winner is Trashit. The runner-ups are The PMS Project, Sehat  Kahani, and Mera Paisa”.

The final of the Pakistan round of SheLovesTech was held on 19 August 2017 at JS Auditorium, IBA City Campus, Karachi. It was hosted by CIRCLE, a social enterprise focused on furthering women economically in Pakistan.

She Loves Tech is a global competition held in eight countries: Canada, China, Hong Kong, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Singapore, and Pakistan. In the next round of this international competition, the winners from each country will go to Beijing China to compete with each other on September 16, after a week-long boot camp. 

Delivering the welcome address, SadaffeAbid, CIRCLE co-founder said, “CIRCLE wants to give women opportunities to enter the economy and solve the country’s issues.”

All the ten finalists presented their four (4) minute startup pitches. The judges’ panel consisted of prominent personalities from the industry. Their names are  Mr. Yusuf Jan, founder TRAFiX LLC, Mr. Humayun Bashir, former CEO IBM, Dr. Zakiuddin Ahmed, a visionary strategist in the healthcare industry, Dr. Ayesha Khan, Director Portfolio, Acumen, and  Mr. Faheem Arif, Marketing and Research Head at Sybrid.

Anusha Fatima (founder Trashit) was declared as the winner. She gave her startup pitch quite eloquently and impressed the judges panel by explaining how she and her team intends to resolve the issue of garbage heaps. Trashit will be introducing Composting Bins for converting organic waste of households into fertilizer. 

She also said, “Through the She Loves Tech initiative, CIRCLE connected me to amazing mentors such as Raza Matin (country consultant, Google) who helped my team further advance trashIt.”

The judges also declared the runner-ups. The three (3) runner ups were:

SehatKahani by Sara Saeed Khurram and
meraPaisa by Samar Hasan 

All three runner-ups will receive mentorship for their startups from She Loves TechPk sponsors Lakson Investments and Sybrid

       

The event also featured impressive keynote speeches from Mr. Javed Memon (Regional Director, HEC), Ms. Denise Herbol (Deputy Mission Director with USAID), Mr. Junaid Iqbal (CEO of Careem Pakistan) and Mr. Imran Sayeed (Professor at MIT Sloan School of Management).
