Yes, It was a wonderful feeling putting smiles on so many lovely faces :)

Smiling and Laughters

On 14th May 2013, I had the privilege to be the guest speaker at the Institute of Professional Psychology, Bahria University Karachi.  The topic for my keynote session was “Role of Humor in Stress Management”.

Key note session on Humor and Stress Management

I don’t know about others but it sure worked for me in controlling my own stress on the presentation day.

Keeping students and faculty members attentive and that too of psychology is a herculean task. But Alhamdolillah, my two hour presentation sailed smoothly with lots of smiles and laughters .

Smiling and laughters

Thanks to students for liking and enjoying the session. I hope students will put humor to work in their own lives not only at times of stress but also during their happy moments. Your smiling faces really made my day.

Smiling and Laughters

I am thankful to Dr. Zainab F. Zadeh, Director Institute of Professional Psychology (IPP), Dr. Khalida Shafi, Professor IPP and Ms. Gul-e-Zehra Abbas, Assistant Professor, IPP for giving me an opportunity to come and share my thoughts on the relationship of Humor and Stress.

There may not be too much humor in wisdom but there is too much wisdom in humor or rather wisdumbs. I couldn’t resist the temptation to talk about 101 Wisdumbs and therefore i also grabbed the opportunity to present my recently launched book 101Wisdumbs :)

Presenting my book 101 Wisdumbs to Ms. Gul-e-Zehra Abbas

Pre-launch of my first book titled “101Wisdumbs” :)

The response to the pre-launch of my first book 101Wisdumbs was “overwhelming”.

101 Wisdumbs is a pocket book in which I have unraveled my own wisdumbs on bosses, wives, success, social media, meetings and life in general. InshaAllah it will be available soon in the market. During the pre-launch phase, I met three important personalities namely Hammad Siddiqui, Sarfaraz Rehman and Mansoor Soomro. Hammad SiddiquiThough I wanted to meet more but I ran short of the initial copies of 101Wisdumbs.All three of them shared valuable insights with me on how to market and promote 101Wisdumbs. I am grateful to all three of them.Mansoor Soomro

Hammad took the lead and he not only tweeted himself in spreading the word about 101Wisdumbs on twitter but also promoted it on his Facebook and Linkedin page. Gratitude Hammad :)

Below is what people are saying about 101Wisdumbs :)

101 Wisdumbs… my 1st book. Coming soon to haunt your wisdom :)

No its not a typo. It is not 101 Wisdom. It really is 101 Wisdumbs

I always wanted to be an intellectual nerd and i told the same to the Almighty. But than i read this “if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans“. It was too late for me as i ended up being a total opposite of what i wanted. Obviously He laughed at my plans too. I ended up becoming a humorist. 101 Wisdumbs...Coming soon to haunt your wisdom

Instead of becoming a microscopic source of Wisdom, God gave me an edge in churning out Wisdumbs and that too in english. And a whole lot of them. I just completed my first century in wisdumbs.

And so i decided to write my first book titled, “101 Wisdumbs”.

Coming soon in print to haunt your wisdom :)

Are you always in tears :(

If your tears doesn’t stop. If you are always depressed. If you feel doom and gloom. If you don’t like to talk to anyone. If you are into brain relaxation pills. If you feel this world doesn’t need you.If you like tragedy. If you………….

It only means that you haven’t considered the other side of the coin. The other side is “SMILE“. Try it. Its magical. Even forced and fake smile will do wonders.

An ounce of Smile is better than a ton of Tears :)

Dreams aren’t big enough :)

Grayson Marshall said, “If people aren’t laughing at your dreams…then they aren’t big enough!”  I don’t agree with this. My version of this interesting quote would be:

For the last twelve months, this dream of mine, which is now in its 25th episode and may take another 5 episodes to end in the next 10 nights, do you expect people will laugh at it just because it is big enough, even bigger than a soap drama. No, any further listening may make my listeners shout and cry.                                                The other day, I told my mentor I want to be  Einstein. He laughed and laughed till tears rolled out of his eyes. His laughter got me excited and I thought, voila, I have just fulfilled what Grayson Marshall said. But before taking next step on this road to fulfill my dream, my mentor halted me. He said, he laughed not because of my ambitious big dream but transplanting Einstein’s hair style on my bald head is nothing short of a miracle.

Since brain is such an excellent thinking tool, the next night I found myself dreaming that I am discussing, the possibility of growing Einstein Hairstyle, with this famous international hair expert. We were at the peak of our discussion and he was about to unravel the secret of cultivating Einstein Hairstyle, but alas, the dream proved big enough for my mom who jolted me up as she didn’t like the idea of me sleeping too long and eventually getting late for the work.

So here I am, thinking what to do with my big enough dreams? I don’t know about you, but I think if you want to make people laugh at your dreams, it is better to tell funny dreams rather big ones.

Pakistan India Social Media Mela 2012

Did you know that the Indians invaded Avari Towers earlier this month. And YES, THEY WERE ARMED.

Armed with social media ammunition! Loaded with Twitter, Facebook and of course Tehelka.com & Change.org

Pakistan India Social Media Mela 2012July 13 and 14, 2012 witnessed the first Indo Pak taakra of the social media community at Avari Towers, Karachi, Pakistan. The event was organized by PeaceNiche in collaboration with US Consulate in Pakistan. (Photo source: @Fursid)

The arsenal of the loaded Indian contingent comprised of Karuna John, Onir, Venkat Ananth, Sanjay Rajoura, Sabbah Haji, Jugal Mody,  Annie Zaidi, Smita Choudhary and Raheel Khurshid.

The two day event revolved around daring panel discussions, informal side conversations, free lunches and soul searching qawallis and songs.

Panel discussions thrashed online activism, cyber bullying, Twitter as the new newsroom, Viral Videos, Online Comics, Corporate Blogging, Brand building, role of social media in education, party politics & social media (bringing PTI and MQM face to face) and other topics.

Nadeem F Paracha, Tammy Haq, Mohsin Sayeed, Beena Sarwar, Marvi Sirmed, Jehan Ara, Mira Hashmi, Dr Awab Alvi, Syed Ali Raza Abidi a.k.a SARA, Sabeen Mahmud,  Yusra Askari, Raza Rumi,  Bina Shah, Mehreen Kasana, Anthony Permal, Mansoor Ali Khan, Babrus Khan, Ramish Safa Mobin, Shahjahan Chaudhary, Salman Abedin, Imtiaz Noor and many others including Ali Gul Pir (Wadera ka Beta) and Sohaib  Athar (The man who live tweeted the Osama Bin Laden raid)  participated in the event.

Despite this heavy presence of Pakistani notables, we had no match for the Indian secret weapon Sanjay Rajoura. I spotted him several times during the first day secretly gathering intelligence material for his next day performance.  He went nuclear with his stage comedy on the second day. It was brilliant but yet non-settling for audience who kept jumping on their seats with several spells of laughter bursts.

Besides panel discussions, Fareed Ayaz and Abu Muhammad thrilled the audience with their qawalli at the end of first day’s proceedings, where as Dr Taimur Rahman, Assistant Professor at LUMS, entertained with his Laal Band performance at the end of the second day.

Senator Rehman Malik who helped the organizers in getting the VISAs for our Indian guests, also graced the occasion on July 15,, 2012. On their way home, the Indian guests were surprised when they got Mangoes from the Senator. Here is what Venkat Ananth tweeted about the departure on July 16, 2012:

“We were taken to the FIA office and after 5 minutes, were told about the mangoes that Rehman Malik gifted us. Much laughter”

I was lucky enough to get the invite on time. Thanks to Sabeen MahmudShoaib Taimur, Faisal Kapadia and Sundus Rasheed. Its  been a wonderful experience attending the event and meeting new people.

I would like to dedicate my latest wisdumb to this event.
