The response to the pre-launch of my first book 101Wisdumbs was “overwhelming”.

101 Wisdumbs is a pocket book in which I have unraveled my own wisdumbs on bosses, wives, success, social media, meetings and life in general. InshaAllah it will be available soon in the market. During the pre-launch phase, I met three important personalities namely Hammad Siddiqui, Sarfaraz Rehman and Mansoor Soomro. Hammad SiddiquiThough I wanted to meet more but I ran short of the initial copies of 101Wisdumbs.All three of them shared valuable insights with me on how to market and promote 101Wisdumbs. I am grateful to all three of them.Mansoor Soomro

Hammad took the lead and he not only tweeted himself in spreading the word about 101Wisdumbs on twitter but also promoted it on his Facebook and Linkedin page. Gratitude Hammad :)

Below is what people are saying about 101Wisdumbs :)

101 Wisdumbs… my 1st book. Coming soon to haunt your wisdom :)

No its not a typo. It is not 101 Wisdom. It really is 101 Wisdumbs

I always wanted to be an intellectual nerd and i told the same to the Almighty. But than i read this “if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans“. It was too late for me as i ended up being a total opposite of what i wanted. Obviously He laughed at my plans too. I ended up becoming a humorist. 101 Wisdumbs...Coming soon to haunt your wisdom

Instead of becoming a microscopic source of Wisdom, God gave me an edge in churning out Wisdumbs and that too in english. And a whole lot of them. I just completed my first century in wisdumbs.

And so i decided to write my first book titled, “101 Wisdumbs”.

Coming soon in print to haunt your wisdom :)

And the best award goes to……

We all go mad when the time comes for the Oscars, Emmy, Nobel Peace or Lux Style awards. However, awards or title of the “BEST” are not reserved for brilliant performances in the world of entertainment, sports, fashion, food, travel etc.

Brilliant or amazing performances can be found in every sphere of life. Fortune Magazine, Financial Crisis, Recession, Economic Downturn, WorkplaceFor example, based on the frequent number of looting at sea, the title “Best Pirates of the World” can go to a Somali nomination. And if you look around your world, you will see the BEST in the WORST. Like, in the name of “Weapons of Mass Destruction”, “Osama Bin Laden”, “Nuclear Proliferation”, US government is a clear winner of the title “Best Trespasser” of the world.

Besides the academy award winning movies, one can easily find real life stories of individuals par excellence who can win awards in the categories of “ The Kickback Master”, “Lord of Exploitation”, “Hoarding Potter” , “Phantom of Embezzlements”, “Greed-gascar”, “The Money Snatcher”, “Avengers in Discrimination”, “Terrorist at Best” etc.

Similarly i think our very own “Charter of Democracy” which was executed between two prominent political parties i.e. PPP and PML (N) is going to win the “Best Fiction Award for the year 2012“.

To be the BEST in the WORST, the potential champion violates all international standards and surpasses all benchmarks. The politicians with zero morals always win the top slot in the corruption super game. In most of the countries, the super athletes of corruption have taken it to the next level of harruption. (harrup is an urdu word for eating up everything).

The question in the title, “And the best award goes to…..” also refers to one of the BEST in the WORST. The Great Depression of 1930 is no longer great. Had I been the editor of the FORTUNE magazine, I would have designed its cover with one of my favorite wisdumb given above.

Who is your Motivational Guru :)

Have you ever thought:  who is your motivational guru?

Motivational Guru Boss Work Anthony Robbins

In simple words, who do you think is Anthony Robbins of your dreams?  Is he the tall and handsome colleague of yours who never works but keep impressing his boss by latest Armani suits?  May be he’s the tea boy who you think one day will become the Management celebrity just like the one about which you read in the Fortune Magazine.  Or, she might be your favorite trainer, who is always dishing out latest motivational philosophies and brand new management buzzwords.

For a moment, I am sure you might be thinking about the heavily guarded CEO who wants to see you as a daring and a bold individual and never misses an opportunity to lecture you on taking risks to become the top salesman of the year.  Or is she the charming lady in the customer service department who keeps you motivated to remain ever ready whenever the company needs you.

Well, I have no problems with your choice of motivational guru, but moral of the story is,  WHENEVER YOU SEE YOUR BOSS, simply get back to work. Oops here comes my boss……Check out my wisdumb #4 pasted above.

By the way don’t forget to write your choice of motivational guru in the comments section of this blog post. Thanks :)

Missing in Action – Humor

Lighter side of thingsOur sense of humor gives us the strength to survive difficult times. Humor not only brightens our day during normal course of events but also act as a survival agent by keeping thing in proper perspective even at a time of loss or difficult times.

Couple of months ago, one of my relative lost his wife in a tragic snatching at gun point activity. When we visited his house second time after few days of the event, his spirits were high when he said that, “look it at this way, she died but only after living her life to the fullest by enjoying each day while she was alive”.

William Arthur Ward, once said,” A well developed sense of humor is the pole that adds balance to your steps as you walk the tightrope of life”.

Similarly Max Eastman believes, “Humor is the instinct for taking pain playfully”.

These days, our country, Pakistan is going through the toughest times since Independence.  I agree these are the toughest times in the history of our country. Most of our complaints are 100% legitimate. But at the same time our response is 0% correct. Most of my country men are found complaining all across the social media, in bazaars, offices, factories, at homes, schools etc. Complaints, Pakistan bashing, ill words, bad language are quite common, be it loadshedding, security issue, political scenario or economic hardships.

To survive, we need to keep things in their proper perspective. And one of the appropriate mechanism to face these hardships is our sense of humor. Instead of shouting or getting short tempered at the onslaught of trouble time, we need to see the lighter side of it. By seeing the lighter side, quite often we start to smile or laugh. This simple act of smile or laugh changes our mood from gloom to bloom.
